Pottikkalu | Panasa Buttalu | Idly steamed in Jackfruit Leaves

Idlis are steamed in jackfruit leaves baskets during any special occasion. These idlis made in jackfruit leaves are called panasa buttalu, pottikkalu in telugu, hotto, hittu in Konkani and khotte kadubu in Kannada. These idlis in jackfruit leaves are considered pretty special in andhra cuisine and are a must for breakfast or lunch during any of the special days, celebrations and festivals of Ganesh Chaturthi regions of Andhra-Telangana. They are served for breakfast with a coconut chutney and with a sambar at times on those special days. If not are served as part of the spread for a lavish festival lunch. Jackfruit leaves are weaved into tiny basket to steam idlis in them. These jackfruit leaves basket are then filled with idli batter and are steamed to make pottikkalu/panasa buttalu. Afghani Style Recipe Halwa-e-zardak / Carrot Barfi

Hi Friends, A very special recipe today. Afghani Style Carrot Barfi. Easy to make in minutes. Lets Start. Watch my youtube video for step by step method INGREDIENTS 2 tbsp ghee / clarified butter 4 cups 450 gm carrot, grated 1 cup 245 gm milk ½ cup 110 gm sugar ½ cup 50 gm milk powder, full cream ¼ tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp almonds / badam, chopped INSTRUCTIONS 1.firstly, in a large kadai heat 2 tbsp ghee and roast in 4 cups grated carrot. 2.saute in 5 minutes, or till the colour changes lightly and shrinks. 3.now add in 1 cup milk and stir well. boil for 5 minutes or till the carrot turns soft. 4.stir occasionally, till the milk reduces completely and thickens. 5.now add in ½ cup of sugar and mix well till the sugar melts and thickens. 6.add in ½ cup milk powder and give a good mix. make sure there are no lumps formed in the mixture and separates from pan. 7.furthermore add in ¼ tsp cardamom powder and mix well. 8.transfer the prepared mixture in...
